SIMtone's
ASPEED for
Excel is a package that includes Run-time ASPEED and
SDK. It provides a wizard that enables a developer to
quickly and easily parallelize a
worksheet using VBA or
wrap UDFs, e.g., XLLs, without having to make the DLLs
thread-safe. Once accelerated the execution will
exploit multiple cores, processors, servers, clusters or
grid without any additional changes.
SIMtone's ASPEED for Excel is a
software package that enables developers to rapidly enable
Worksheets to fully exploit the capacity of multi-core,
servers, workgroups, clusters and grids.
SIMtone's ASPEED for Excel includes
an SDK that contains a VBA Wizard, APIs and all the other
components necessary to transparently enable Worksheets to
be sped up by parallelizing the time consuming portions of
the recalculations.
SIMtone's ASPEED for Excel supports
Excel 2000 through 2007 VBA and User Defined Functions (UDFs).
ASPEED for Excel complements, but is not dependent on,
the parallelization support provided for Excel in Microsoft
Office 2007, Office SharePoint Server and Windows High
Performance Server 2008.
ASPEED for Excel
distinguishes itself from the Excel 2007 enabled parallelism
support in that it support it enables VBA parallelism on the
client or server and support the parallel execution of
single-threaded UDFs on the client, server, work
group, cluster or gird without restructuring the UDF or
having to make it "thread-safe."
ASPEED for Excel
essentially enables a a user facing worksheet to
transparently launch multiple parallel worksheets to achieve
parallelism without changing any of its business logic
automatically getting parallelism of all its UDFs. It
also enables the parallelization of individual UDFs by just
applying ACCELLERANT to the XLL wrapper. Additionally
ASPEED for Excel enables iterations inside a UDF to be
parallelized.
Current clients are using
ASPEED accelerated VBA worksheets to significantly reduce long
running recalculations. For example one Bank has been able
to reduce the elapsed time of a long running PnL analysis by
over 4X on a 4-way processor. Another financial institution
has been able to scale the calculations provided in
proprietary library by the number of cores applied to the
recalcualtion reducing minutes to low seconds.
